Models for BTEX evaluation in cases of oil spill on the sea, using Experimental Desing

The objective of this study was to evaluate and obtain mathematical models, using the experimental design methodology, capable predicting contamination benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene xylenes (BTEX) in cases oil spillage at sea, acute toxicity soluble petroleum fraction (FSA). factorial planning developed describe concentration each compound according variables: °API, contact time oil/seawater after ambient temperature. models presented can be used quantitatively predict BTEX seawater with accuracy greater than 99%, within studied ranges. most determining factor concentration/contamination Petroleum FSA. According CL50% °API 39.8 showed higher toxicity, a LC50% 46.07 1 h, 11.38 96 hours oil/seawater, while 32.8 lower however concentrations FSA, is possibly due synergistic effect other hydrocarbons that became bioavailable Mysidopsis juniae during tests. samples demonstrated potential environmental risk spillage, these results help development assessment spills serve as useful analytical tool for emergencies.
